Hi! I’m Kathy McGinnis. I am based out of the Burleson Renfro office and work within Hillside’s Virtual Branch, offering telehealth sessions for those seeking counseling.
I take a holistic approach to therapy, supporting the connection between mind, body, and emotional well-being as we explore what you’re experiencing and what may be ready to shift.
Kathy’s path into counseling has been shaped by a unique and integrative understanding of the connection between the body, mind, and emotional experience.
She began her professional career as a physical therapist, where she developed a deep awareness of how physical, emotional, and mental health are closely interconnected. Through that work, she came to understand that what happens in one area of our lives often impacts all others—an insight that ultimately led her into the mental health field.
Today, her work is focused on supporting the mental and emotional well-being of her clients, while still holding a strong awareness of the whole person. Her background allows her to approach counseling with a broader lens—recognizing that healing often involves more than just one part of ourselves.
In her words:
I’ve come to understand that we are not made up of separate parts. What affects us physically, emotionally, and mentally is all connected.
That perspective continues to guide the way I work with others—supporting the whole person, not just one aspect of their experience.
My passion is working with others as they move through emotional and mental challenges—whether they feel significant or part of everyday life. Often, what gets in the way is fear—the belief that having a problem means something is wrong with us.
I see mental health as the ability to mindfully face what arises, rather than pushing it aside or burying it within ourselves. When we are able to acknowledge and work through our experiences, it allows our energy to move more freely—through our bodies, minds, and spirits—creating space to fully engage in life.
This work includes holding space for both the joys and the hardships—the heartaches, the challenges, and everything in between. It is all part of the human experience.
Therapy can be exciting, enlightening, and even fun, while also inviting us to gently explore old wounds and difficult emotions. Through this process, greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and deeper connections with ourselves and others can begin to take shape.
Life can become an adventure - let's walk it together.
