My journey

Loran’s path into counseling is rooted in a genuine curiosity about people—their stories, identities, and the experiences that shape how they move through the world.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a minor in Anthropology, and her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of North Texas. She is professionally trained to work with clients across the developmental lifespan, including children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and groups.

Loran brings experience from previous work in private practice, where she provided individual counseling, engaged in trauma-focused care, and collaborated with interdisciplinary teams and caregivers. She has additional training in EMDR, trauma-informed care, and working with LGBTQIA+ individuals, allowing her to support clients with a wide range of needs in a thoughtful and affirming way.

In her words:

I’ve always been drawn to understanding people—not just what they’re going through, but how their experiences, identity, and environment shape who they are.

It’s important to me that counseling feels like a space where you don’t have to filter or edit yourself. Whether you’re navigating something specific or just know something feels off, you deserve a place where you can show up fully and be met with care, respect, and understanding.

My approach

Loran’s approach to counseling is rooted in curiosity, compassion, and a deep respect for each person’s story.

She is especially drawn to understanding the “why” behind patterns—how past experiences, relationships, and internal beliefs shape the way we think, feel, and respond in the present. Using an Adlerian-informed lens, she works collaboratively with clients to explore these patterns with insight and intention.

Her work also integrates Internal Family Systems (IFS) and parts-based approaches, helping clients better understand and relate to the different parts of themselves—especially those that may feel conflicted, protective, or misunderstood. This allows for a more compassionate and less judgmental way of engaging with internal experiences.

Loran also incorporates expressive arts into her work when it feels helpful—offering creative ways to explore emotions and experiences that may be difficult to put into words. This can provide an additional pathway for insight, expression, and connection within the counseling process.

When appropriate, she incorporates EMDR and trauma-informed care to help process experiences that may feel stuck or unresolved. She also brings in practical tools—such as CBT and DBT skills—when they support greater awareness, emotional regulation, and day-to-day functioning.

Her approach is flexible and individualized, supporting clients across a range of concerns including women’s issues, mood-related challenges, and self-esteem.

In her words:

I believe the work we do together begins in a space where you feel safe enough to be real—and I strive to create that with each person I work with.

I look forward to connecting and starting the process of counseling with you!
