My journey

Jose approaches counseling with a steady and thoughtful presence, grounded in a genuine curiosity about people and the patterns that shape their lives. From an early age, he found himself noticing how individuals think, feel, and make decisions—an interest that eventually led him into the field of psychology and counseling.

He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Baylor University in 2014 and his Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Tarleton State University in 2016. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor with experience across a variety of clinical settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and private practice. His background also includes work with organizations such as the Family Abuse Center, Sundance Behavioral, and Mesa Springs.

Jose has worked with a wide range of individuals navigating depression, addiction, self-esteem challenges, negative thinking patterns, bipolar symptoms, mood disorders, trauma, sexual identity exploration, LGBTQ+ related concerns, and major life transitions. His breadth of experience allows him to meet clients where they are while tailoring the work to what is most meaningful and effective for them.

In his words:

My goal is to journey with you. I’ve always been drawn to understanding why we do what we do—how our thoughts, experiences, and emotions shape the choices we make. That curiosity is what led me into counseling, and it continues to guide how I show up with clients.

I work to create a space where you can slow down, reflect, and begin to make sense of what you’re experiencing. Whether you’re facing something specific or just know that something feels off, we can work together to better understand it and begin moving forward in a way that feels more grounded and intentional.

My approach

I specialize in adolescents and adults - offering both in-person and telehealth.

My approach and experience is to help clients feel empowered and become aware of the areas they have control and choice in their lives.

My therapy modalities include Integrative, Existential, and CBT. However, the most important intention is to build therapeutic rapport with clients. I am here to provide an ear, discuss paths forward, and empower clients to overcome life’s challenges.

We, as individuals, have busy lives and sometimes our mental health gets forgotten or pushed to the back of the priority list.  I'm glad you are thinking about moving it up on your list!  I hope you will allow me walk with you on your journey, and assist in changes. I am looking forward to meeting with you.
