My journey

Brandi’s path into counseling began through her own experience of navigating unexpected grief and loss—an experience that shaped both her perspective and her calling into this work.

Through her own healing process, she experienced firsthand the impact that support and counseling can have. That experience led her to pursue a path where she could offer the same kind of care and support to others.

She earned her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2020. Since then, she has worked in a variety of agency settings before transitioning into private practice at Hillside Counseling.

Today, Brandi brings both personal understanding and professional training into her work—meeting clients with empathy, encouragement, and a desire to walk alongside them in their own process.

In her words:

My journey into counseling began with my own experience of grief and loss. I sought help—and it truly made a difference.

That’s what led me here. I wanted to be able to offer that same support to others.

My approach

Pursuing this work means supporting individuals who are navigating anxiety, depression, stress, and challenges related to gender identity and sexual orientation.

I use a variety of approaches tailored to your unique situation, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). My work is also trauma-informed, drawing from leaders in the field such as Bessel van der Kolk.

I’m committed to walking alongside you as we navigate whatever has brought you to this point—creating a space where you feel supported, understood, and able to move forward at your own pace.
