My journey

Ashley’s path into counseling has been shaped by both a desire to advocate for others and a deep understanding of how relationships impact our lives.

She began her educational journey at Texas Woman’s University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Family Studies with an emphasis in child development in 2007. She later earned her Master of Science in Community Counseling from Texas A&M University–Commerce in 2013.

Ashley initially felt called to become a Guardian Ad Litem, driven by a desire to advocate for children who often do not have a voice in important life decisions. That passion for advocacy grew as she began to see the impact of unhealthy and dysfunctional relationship patterns—not only in families, but across many areas of life. Through those experiences, she developed a commitment to helping others better understand their relationships and create something different for themselves.

With over 13 years of experience, Ashley has worked in a variety of settings before moving into private practice. Her work continues to be grounded in helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and move toward a healthier, more fulfilling way of living.

In her words:

I’ve always taken this work personally. I’ve seen how difficult relationships and life circumstances can shape the way we live, and I knew I didn’t want to stay stuck in those patterns.

That realization led me here. I value being able to support others as they figure out what a better life looks like for them—and how to begin moving in that direction.

My approach

My approach to counseling is both practical and forward-focused, helping you identify what may be keeping you stuck and begin moving toward something different.

I draw from a variety of approaches, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Relational Therapy, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). These approaches allow us to process past experiences, build awareness, and develop tools that support meaningful progress.

Together, we will identify areas for growth and begin taking steps toward a healthier, more fulfilling way of living. My role is to support you while also helping you challenge patterns that may no longer be working.

If what you’ve been doing hasn’t been working, it may be time to try something new. Change can feel uncomfortable, but it can also open the door to something better.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing expecting a different result. So I must ask you if what you’ve been doing hasn’t been working, are you ready to try something new and different?
